Native American Guided
Hopi
Mesa Tour
Leaving Sedona you will
experience the awesome Red Rock formation of Oak Creek Canyon on the
way to Flagstaff .
The majestic San Francisco Peaks loom into
view, which are sacred to both the Hopi and Navajo people. We continue
across the Colorado Plateau onto the Navajo Nation.
At Hopi
you will see the oldest continuously inhabited village in the US, Old
Oraibi, on Third Mesa.
At the Cultural
Center on Second Mesa
we have lunch, where you can enjoy traditional Hopi food, including the
flavorful Blue Corn Frybread. Adjacent to center is the Hopi Museum,
with fine examples of Hopi crafts and an extensive collection of
photographs depicting the Hopi way of life in the early 20th century.
On
First Mesa, you will have the privilege of a Hopi guided tour of Walpi.
A village that still adheres to a traditional way of life. First Mesa
provides ample opportunity to buy signed Hopi handicrafts directly from
the artisans. The artists will also explain the symbolism of the
handicrafts.
Way
of the Ancients Tours, probably, spends more time and stops at more
view points, than other Sedona companies.
