De Chelly from above at various view points including the 800 feet high Spider Rock. Canyon De Chelly is one of the longest continuously inhabited landscapes of North America. See the cliff dwellings and Petroglyphs of the Puebloan Indians. Canyon de Chelly is a living community where the Navajo’s still farm and ranch in the fertile valley watered by the Chinle Wash flowing through the Canyon. Learn the history and culture of the peoples of Canyon de Chelly area with a 3 hour Navajo guided jeep tour through the canyon floor, taking you to many Anasazi Ruins. Learn of the Navajo resistance to the Spanish Conquest of the Southwest. See rock art depicting the first European in the area and stand in awe as you gaze upon The White House Ruins nestled in alcove below 700 feet sandstone cliffs.
On approaching Monument Valley, we make several stops for guests to fully appreciate and photograph majestic views. Upon entering Monument Navajo Tribal Park, enjoy a 2 hour Navajo guided jeep tour through the monumental rock formations. See some of the back canyons and natural arches that only a Navajo guide has access to. Learn about the history and traditions of the people of this Monument Valley.
Accommodations and meals are provided by the Thunderbird Lodge, where you can sample traditional Native American cuisine.
